Laws & permits

State laws

Laws change every year, and many cities ban what their state allows. The customer is responsible for confirming what’s legal at their address before lighting anything.

Ohio

1.4G consumer fireworks legal

21+ to purchase. Discharge allowed on private property with property-owner consent. Local cities (Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati) often have stricter rules — check your municipality.

Pennsylvania

1.4G consumer fireworks legal

18+ to purchase under state law, but we ship 21+ only. Must be ≥150 ft from occupied buildings. No discharge on public property.

Michigan

1.4G consumer fireworks legal

18+ to purchase under state law (we ship 21+). Discharge times restricted to specific days surrounding July 4, New Year's, and Memorial Day. Local rules apply.

Indiana

1.4G consumer fireworks legal

18+ to purchase under state law (we ship 21+). Discharge allowed on the user’s own property and certain hours surrounding holidays.

West Virginia

1.4G consumer fireworks legal

Licensed retailers only. Customer responsible for permit if discharging in a municipality that requires it.

New York

Sparkling devices only (varies by county)

NY bans most aerial consumer fireworks statewide. Many counties allow ground-based sparkling devices. We do not ship 1.4G aerials to NY.

Federal rules that apply everywhere

  • Anyone purchasing consumer fireworks must be 21+ (some states allow 18+; our policy is 21+).
  • The federal limit on 1.4G consumer fireworks composition is 500 grams of pyrotechnic for cakes and 60g per shell. Everything we ship meets the consumer limit.
  • Mailing fireworks via USPS is a federal crime. We use licensed ground couriers only.
  • Discharging on federal land (National Parks, National Forests, Corps of Engineers property, military bases) is prohibited.
